The National Sana a strikes preempted and thwarted Saudi preparations for a new round of war

The National newspaper stated on Sunday that the escalating attacks carried out by Sana’a forces against Saudi targets are part of a preemptive campaign to thwart Riyadh’s plan, which was preparing for a new round of war in Yemen.

The newspaper explained in its analysis that “Sana’a’s escalation came after Saudi Arabia’s refusal to lift its siege on Yemen, and increasing indications of the possibility of preparations for a new round of war.”
According to the analysis, the Yemenis may be preparing for a new war, and the recent escalation reflects a preemptive move, whose primary goal is to exert political and military pressure on Saudi Arabia, to force it to make concessions, or at least break the deadlock that followed the 2022 agreement.
The report indicated that Sana’a invested the years of relative calm following the 2022 agreement in reorganizing its military capabilities and developing its missile and air arsenal, waiting for the right moment to use them.
This was evident in its imposition of the naval blockade on Saudi navigation, launching attacks on the Saudi depth, in addition to its recent attacks targeting mobilizations of Saudi-loyal forces in Marib, Hadhramaut, and Al-Mokha.

The newspaper quoted analysts as estimating that “Sana’a’s attacks appear to be a preemptive move against Saudi Arabia, especially as Sana’a appears to be preparing for the possibility of renewed fighting, and the escalation represents a means of demonstrating its readiness not only to continue cross-border attacks against Saudi Arabia but also to engage in military confrontation if the conflict escalates.”
