The ongoing Israeli aggression has exacerbated the suffering of thousands of kidney patients in the Gaza Strip. Concurrent conditions and factors have led to an increase in the death toll, primarily the lack of access to medical care.

Kidney patients in the Gaza Strip have been subjected to various forms of suffering for more than 20 months, including a shortage of dialysis sessions, a shortage of medications, and a lack of healthcare. This is compounded by widespread hunger and the difficulty of transportation, which forces most of them to walk long distances to reach functioning health centers, which are under significant pressure due to damaged or destroyed dialysis equipment and a shortage of available equipment for the number of patients.

The current number of dialysis machines in the entire Gaza Strip is 93, distributed among the Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis (south),Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah (central),and Al-Shifa Hospital and Al-Rantisi Hospital in Gaza City and the northern Gaza Strip. This is down from the 178 machines available before the aggression, a large number of which were destroyed.

According to the Information Systems Department of the Ministry of Health in Gaza, more than 41% of kidney patients lost their lives during the months of the aggression. While the pre-aggression number of kidney patients was 1,100, the number has dwindled to 650 due to deaths resulting from the lack of treatment and the closure of the crossings.
