Western media reports revealed the escalation of the US’ dilemma in confronting the military operations carried out by the Yemeni forces in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, despite the intense ongoing bombing campaign since mid-March.
Follow ups – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
The Hebrew newspaper Jerusalem Post indicated that the Yemeni forces are still maintaining a high rate of attacks against commercial and military vessels in the region, which has led to a near paralysis in international maritime traffic through vital corridors.
The newspaper’s report mentioned that the US carried out more than 750 air strikes on Yemen in recent weeks without achieving its declared objectives, as the Yemenis managed to down seven American MQ-9 drones worth over $200 million, in addition to their continued operations in the Red Sea.
The reports confirmed that the US administration now faces two difficult choices, either escalation through a risky ground military intervention or acknowledging the failure of the air campaign and seeking a political way out.
Defense sources for the Hebrew newspaper explained that the Yemenis have shown advanced field capabilities and effective tactics despite the losses, making it impossible to end their attacks through air strikes so far.
