Expanding the yellow line displaces hundreds of Palestinians in Gaza

On Sunday, Israeli occupation forces expanded their control in the Gaza Strip, seizing the remaining parts of the Shuja’iyya neighborhood east of Gaza City. They escalated their threats against Hamas, declaring that the time had come to assassinate its leader, Khalil al-Hayya. Meanwhile, five Palestinians, including a child, were killed, and several others were wounded as a result of the ongoing bombardment and attacks launched by the occupation forces on various areas in the Gaza Strip. At the same time, dozens of settlers stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, while the occupation authorities prevented Palestinians from performing funeral prayers for a Jerusalemite at Al-Aqsa. This coincided with an escalation of settler violence, including the theft of olive harvests and attacks on Palestinians and their property in the occupied West Bank. France, meanwhile, called on the Palestinian Authority to reverse its decision to postpone the legislative elections.

Israeli forces moved the yellow concrete blocks tens of meters westward, effectively placing the neighborhood under complete Israeli control. Hundreds of Palestinians were forced to flee after their homes fell within the “yellow line.” The outskirts of Shuja’iyya have witnessed shelling and the destruction of buildings in recent days. According to the Civil Defense, approximately 1,000 Palestinians have been displaced since Friday. Simultaneously, Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip intensified, with shelling and direct targeting resulting in injuries to eight civilians, including three children and two women. Forced displacement continues due to the ongoing advance of the yellow line.
