Doctors Without Borders warns of the cessation of health services in Gaza due to occupation restrictions

Doctors Without Borders (MSF) warned on Monday that the severe restrictions imposed by Israeli occupation authorities on the entry of medical supplies into the Gaza Strip are threatening the lives of thousands of patients, given the ongoing critical shortage of essential medical materials.

In a statement, the organization said that since the beginning of 2026, Israeli occupation authorities have prevented the entry of all medical supplies into Gaza, including vital medicines such as antibiotics and painkillers, as well as essential surgical equipment and wound care supplies. MSF added that the occupation authorities have also prevented the entry of international medical teams, further exacerbating the deterioration of the health system in the Strip, particularly in light of the increasing number of wounded and injured as a result of the ongoing escalation.

MSF pointed out that the restrictions imposed on crossings, including the Kerem Shalom crossing, are disrupting the flow of humanitarian aid, hindering the ability to treat patients in dire need of urgent medical care. The organization stressed that the continuation of this situation could lead to a complete collapse of health services in the Gaza Strip.

For its part, the World Health Organization confirmed that no medical supplies or medicines were being allowed into Gaza. Meanwhile, the Palestinian Ministry of Health announced a deterioration in the health situation in the Strip due to shortages of fuel and spare parts needed to operate electricity generators, noting that these crises could lead to the closure of hospitals and health centers.

In closing, Doctors Without Borders called on the occupying authorities to immediately lift the restrictions and allow the unimpeded entry of medical supplies and humanitarian personnel, warning that the continuation of the current situation could lead to an unprecedented health catastrophe in the Gaza Strip.
