Civil defense in Gaza appeals for evacuation of previously targeted buildings

The Civil Defense in Gaza appealed to residents who have returned to buildings and homes previously targeted by the Israeli occupation and classified as dangerous and “uninhabitable” to evacuate immediately and move to safer locations to protect their lives.

In a statement issued Sunday, the Civil Defense expressed its deep regret for the residents of these homes, which have recently suffered collapses, resulting in deaths and missing persons.

The Civil Defense urged residents to heed the warnings issued by specialized committees comprised of engineers and experts to ensure their safety and to evacuate their homes due to the inherent dangers of living there.

It is worth noting that 22 homes have suffered partial or complete collapses since the start of the recent storm on the 10th of this month, resulting in the deaths of 18 people, including four who remain missing under the rubble.

Three women from the same family were killed, and two others went missing, on Sunday morning when their house collapsed in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood of Gaza City. The collapse was caused by cracks resulting from ongoing Israeli bombardment, which led to the house collapsing on its residents.

The Engineers Syndicate in the Gaza Strip had launched an initiative to provide technical advice to residents on inspecting their damaged or dilapidated homes, following the recent collapse of several buildings due to the storm that struck the Strip.
