The health system in the Gaza Strip has been facing a systematic war waged by the Israeli occupation army since the beginning of the offensive, according to Dr. Khalil Al-Daqran, spokesperson for Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital.

This destructive strategy is evident in the occupation army’s prevention—for more than four months—of the entry of medicines, medical supplies, medical equipment, generators, and baby formula into the Strip.

This comprehensive and deliberate ban, as Al-Daqran explains, covers everything the health system needs to continue operating. This explains the catastrophic situation facing the remaining hospitals, which are operating partially under extremely difficult conditions and under constant threat of total shutdown.

The fuel crisis is the most serious challenge facing hospitals, due to their total dependence on fuel. The lack of sufficient fuel supplies leads to the shutdown of all health facilities.

The current situation indicates that the remaining fuel supplies in Gaza’s hospitals are only sufficient for a few days, putting the entire health sector on the brink of total collapse.

Faced with this reality, hospital administrations find themselves forced to adopt harsh austerity measures in a desperate attempt to survive for a longer period.
