800missiles in two days Gulf countries consume their defense far faster than America s ability to produce
Follow-ups _ Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
The Economist magazine has reported that Gulf countries are using, daily or every two days, a number of interceptor missiles exceeding what the United States can produce in an entire year, in a striking indication of the scale of pressure on air defense systems in the face of the attacks launched by Iran against American bases in the Gulf.
According to the magazine, Gulf countries may have consumed nearly 800 interceptor missiles of the “PAC-3” or “THAAD” types in just two days. These are among the most prominent missile defense systems relied upon to protect airspace and vital installations.
Estimates indicate that Lockheed Martin produces around 600 “PAC-3” interceptor missiles annually, while production of the “THAAD” system is significantly lower than this number, reflecting a clear gap between the current consumption rate and the industrial capacity to compensate.
In light of these data, the magazine suggested that the concerned countries might be forced to ration the use of their interceptor missile inventory and possibly reprioritize protection by choosing which sites and installations will receive intensive defense, leaving other sites with a lower level of protection if the current pace of attrition continues.
