The Director of the Al-Shifa Medical Complex in the Gaza Strip, Dr. Hassan Al-Sha’er, revealed that more than 20,000 patients urgently need to receive treatment outside the besieged Strip, while only five to ten patients per day are allowed to pass through the crossings. This means that treating all cases may take between seven and ten years under restrictive Zionist measures.
Gaza – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
Al-Sha’er warned that the health system in Gaza is going through a very critical phase despite the cessation of aggression due to the continued complete closure of crossings and the prevention of the entry of essential medical supplies and equipment, according to his statement to the “Al-Masirah” channel.
He explained that the health sector has lost more than 30% of its medical personnel between martyrs and detainees, in addition to the acute shortage of beds and treatment capabilities and the destruction of medical infrastructure.
He pointed out that thousands of critical cases need surgeries and urgent specialized interventions that cannot be secured inside the Strip, warning that delaying their treatment may lead to escalating fatalities.
The Director of Al-Shifa Hospital called for urgent action to lift the siege and open the crossings permanently to allow the flow of medical aid and facilitate the travel of patients, amidst the continued suffering of the health sector due to the ongoing Israeli aggression and its use of the siege as a tool for collective pressure on the population.
