Saudi Arabia has begun efforts on Wednesday to contain the escalation with Sana’a, following warnings received about the consequences of the truce collapsing.
Exclusive – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
Tribal sources confirmed that the Saudi ambassador to Yemen, Mohammed Al-Jaber, summoned Hamad bin Fadgham, the leader of the new escalation in Al-Jawf. The sources spoke of Fadgham arriving in Al-Abr on his way to Saudi Arabia.
The summoning of Fadgham coincided with Saudi moves on an international scale to contain the escalation in Yemen. The Saudi Foreign Minister, Faisal bin Farhan, made a surprise visit to the Chinese capital, Beijing.
Media sources reported that consolidating the truce in Yemen and supporting stability in the Red Sea and Bab Al-Mandeb were at the top of the Saudi minister’s agenda as he met with officials, including the Chinese vice president.
Saudi Arabia’s knocking on the Chinese door in Yemen comes amid reports that it received warnings from the Omani mediator about the danger of escalation in Yemen.
Yemeni-Saudi relations are witnessing unprecedented tension in light of Sana’a’s hinting at the military option to force Saudi Arabia to implement its commitments regarding peace entitlements and the Kingdom’s attempt to price issues to maneuver and evade its commitments.
The summoning of Fadgham, who recently received Saudi financial and military support, is an indicator of Saudi Arabia’s decision to calm the situation in light of Yemen hinting at a larger response.
