The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) announced that children in Gaza are experiencing one of the most difficult humanitarian crises due to deteriorating living conditions and continued restrictions on the entry of humanitarian aid into the Strip.
UNRWA stressed that protecting children and meeting their basic needs is an urgent humanitarian priority that cannot be postponed.
In a statement yesterday, UNRWA explained that thousands of children lack the most basic necessities, including adequate heating, proper food, and healthcare. The agency noted that the current circumstances deprive them of their fundamental rights to live in dignity and safety.
UNRWA added that the continued disruption of humanitarian aid, particularly food, medicine, and shelter supplies, exacerbates the already fragile humanitarian situation and increases the risks to children’s health and safety, especially with the drop in temperatures and the damage to infrastructure in many areas.
She stressed the need to intensify international efforts to ensure the regular and unhindered flow of aid, calling on the international community to assume its legal and moral responsibilities and work to provide a safe environment that allows children in Gaza the opportunity to live and grow away from the effects of the conflict and the repercussions of the worsening humanitarian crisis.
