The United Nations warned of a deteriorating situation in Lebanon, where more than 900 people, including children, have been killed in Israeli airstrikes. The UN cited violations of international humanitarian law, including the targeting of residential areas, civilian infrastructure, and medical facilities, as well as widespread displacement.

The UN confirmed that Israeli airstrikes have destroyed entire residential buildings in densely populated urban areas, killing entire families, including women and children. Displaced people living in tents on Beirut’s waterfront have also been targeted, and 16 medical personnel have been killed in recent days.

The UN indicated that Israeli evacuation orders and warnings have expanded to include large areas of southern Lebanon, including the area between the Litani and Zahrani rivers, amounting to forced displacement, which is prohibited under international law.

The Lebanese Ministry of Public Health announced yesterday that the total number of deaths from Israeli bombing of Lebanon between March 2 and March 17 reached 912, with 2,221 injuries. The report indicated that the number of children killed remained at 111, while the number of injured children rose to 334.
