An unbearable life Heat and water shortages exacerbate the suffering of displaced Gazans

With rising temperatures, residents of displacement camps in the Gaza Strip are living in dire conditions due to water shortages, lack of ventilation and cooling, and severe overcrowding in tents.

One Gazan described to Al Jazeera Mubasher the daily suffering they endure. His family of eight is now living in a single tent under extremely harsh conditions due to the heat, lack of water, and the absence of any ventilation. This has led to the spread of serious and contagious skin diseases such as scabies, as well as an infestation of mosquitoes. He concluded, “Life has become unbearable.”

All the displaced people are suffering from these tragic circumstances, living in the open air and lacking even the most basic necessities. One young man told Al Jazeera Mubasher that he never imagined he would live in such a place and under such conditions.

The displaced are trying to find solutions to repair their tents, but they are living a life they describe as miserable and incomparable to what it was before the war.

The Israeli blockade of the Gaza Strip exacerbates the catastrophic conditions for residents, who suffer from unemployment, lack of electricity and water, the spread of disease and rodents, and severe food shortages.

Due to the occupation’s refusal to allow the entry of new caravans or tents, existing shelters have become dilapidated and unfit for habitation. Even more alarming, Israel has forced the municipality to dump garbage in landfills adjacent to the camps.
