The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said that civilians in the Gaza Strip continue to be killed and injured daily, whether in Israeli airstrikes, shelling, or while trying to find food for their families. It emphasized that these tragic events should never be accepted as normal.
UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric told the daily press briefing that health partners reported a mass casualty incident following a strike on Deir al-Balah, with Al-Aqsa Hospital receiving more than 20 dead and approximately 70 wounded. He added that more wounded were transferred to Nasser Medical Complex and two other medical facilities.
Health partners reported a significant increase in preventable diseases, with more than 19,000 cases of acute watery diarrhea recorded in the past two weeks alone, along with more than 200 cases of acute jaundice syndrome and bloody diarrhea.
The Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs noted that these outbreaks are directly linked to the lack of clean water and sanitation services in Gaza, highlighting the urgent need for fuel, medical supplies, water, sanitation, and hygiene kits to prevent any further spread of the already dire public health system.
