Follow-ups – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) announced that it had received a report about a maritime incident that occurred 17 nautical miles east of the Dibba area in the UAE, after a ship was attacked by an unknown projectile that caused damage to its navigation system.
Reuters quoted the authority as saying that the ship’s captain confirmed the attack, indicating that the damage was limited to the guidance system, while reports did not provide additional details about the nature of the projectile or the party responsible for the incident.
The incident coincides with security assessments indicating its connection to the measures imposed by Tehran to tighten control over navigation traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, amid expectations of imposing restrictions on ships that take routes or navigation arrangements outside the designated and announced passages by the Iranian authorities.
