Total Energies announces loss of 15 of its production and oil exceeds 100
Tehran – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
The French energy company Total Energies announced that it has lost approximately 15% of its global oil and gas production, following the closure of its operations in Qatar, Iraq, and the UAE due to the American-Israeli war on Iran.
The announcement was made on the company’s investor website, in which it confirmed the halt of production at its facilities in Qatar and Iraq, in addition to offshore fields in the UAE.
Since the beginning of the American-Israeli aggression on Iran on February 28, oil markets have witnessed continuous increases.
Today, Friday, Brent crude prices exceeded the $100 per barrel barrier during Asian trading, reaching $101.59 at certain times.
The International Energy Agency had stated that the war on Iran caused the largest disruption to oil supplies in the history of the global market.
It is noteworthy that the Strait of Hormuz, through which one-fifth of the world’s oil consumption passes, is witnessing a near-complete halt in transport movement, with current shipments reaching less than 10% of pre-war levels.
In Asia, some governments announced rationing measures to cope with the fuel shortage.
Companies in Singapore, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, and India have reduced their production or closed entire units due to the disruption of oil exports from the Middle East.
The Bloomberg news agency quoted sources as saying that Iran informed intermediaries that any ceasefire requires American guarantees that it will not be subjected to future attacks from Washington or “Israel.”
