The Prisoners’ Media Office revealed on Thursday new testimonies it said came from inside the Ganot prison (Nafha and Ramon),documenting a rapidly deteriorating health and psychological conditions of Palestinian prisoners, particularly those from the Gaza Strip.
The office explained that the testimonies describe the spread of skin and infectious diseases among the prisoners, in addition to many suffering from chronic pain and hearing, vision, and dental problems, all without proper treatment or medical follow-up.
It noted a significant decrease in the weight of a number of prisoners, with some losing tens of kilograms due to food shortages and poor quality.
The office added that the prison administration provides limited and nutritionally poor meals, along with a severe shortage of clothing and hygiene supplies, and continues to deny prisoners family visits, which exacerbates their psychological state amidst isolation and constant pressure.
The office held the Israeli occupation authorities fully responsible for the lives and safety of the prisoners, calling for urgent international intervention to stop what it described as the policy of medical neglect and starvation, and to guarantee their basic rights under international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions.
