Tehran detains a Violating oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz

Iranian television announced today the detention of an oil tanker it described as “violating the laws” in the Strait of Hormuz.
Iranian television reported, citing maritime navigation data, that an oil tanker violated the applicable laws in the strait and was stopped off the coast of Qeshm Island. The source didn’t provide further details about the tanker’s identity or nationality.
The spokesman for the “Khatam Al-Anbiya” Central Headquarters had affirmed that the Strait of Hormuz remains subject to the full management and control of the Islamic Republic, and that no commercial ship or oil tanker will be able to safely cross without permission from the Iranian armed forces.
