Yemen’s announcement of a naval navigation ban on Saudi Arabia has raised many questions, most notably about the targeted ships and the associated operations, and whether the operations will be limited to Saudi ships only or to any ship carrying Saudi cargo.

Although the initial Yemeni statement, just delivered by the Yemeni forces spokesman, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, did not provide details about the Yemeni operations, it is expected that subsequent statements in the coming period will clarify the dimensions and limits of the operations. However, based on the previous experiences of the Yemeni forces, specifically during the confrontations with the Israeli occupation, America, and Britain, many details will be provided in the coming period, whether regarding the ships covered by the ban, the operations, or the target bank. Historically, the Yemeni forces adopt a gradual strategy that begins with announcing the decision regarding the ban, followed by operations targeting ships owned by the hostile party classified on the target list, then expanding the scope of operations to include banning all shipments, and finally targeting ports in the region. Through this gradual escalation, Yemen aims to gradually force the enemy to understand the nature of the escalation and attempt to bring it back to the right path.
