Follow-ups – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
In a worrying indicator of the deteriorating economic environment and the escalating financial crises facing the private sector in Saudi Arabia, recent data issued by the Saudi Bankruptcy Committee “Iesar” revealed that 64 companies and institutions declared actual bankruptcy or began liquidation and insolvency proceedings during June 2026 alone.
The recorded figures indicate a continued hemorrhage of companies in the Kingdom, with the total number of entities that entered bankruptcy or default during the first half of 2026 reaching approximately 375 companies, reflecting a state of economic instability and wide-ranging challenges facing business owners.
Bankruptcy cases during the first six months of the current year were distributed in an escalating and alarming manner, according to documented data:
– January: 72 companies
– February: 48 companies
– March: 55 companies
– April: 55 companies
– May: 63 companies
– June: 64 companies
The list of distressed companies in June includes diverse entities in vital sectors such as aviation, construction, medical services, and industry, distributed across major cities including Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, and Buraidah. Among the most prominent names on the list are “Al-Ru’ya Al-Quswa for Aviation” in Riyadh, and “Arab Construction and Technology Company Limited” in Dammam, in addition to many small and medium-sized enterprises that have been unable to continue in the market.
Observers believe that this continuous escalation in bankruptcy cases raises significant question marks about the economic viability of current financial policies, and the ability of local companies to withstand accumulated economic pressures.
