Saudi Arabia uses the lobby to bring America back to lead the battle in Yemen

Saudi Arabia began a new strategy on Wednesday to convince America to lead its battle in Yemen, following the Trump administration’s rejection of a Saudi offer.

The new Saudi strategy involves mobilizing pressure groups known as the “lobby.”
The campaign relies on a media and legislative aspect, according to what recent moves have shown.
On the media front, Saudi Arabia has begun funding extensive media campaigns in the US highlighting the relationship of those it describes as the “Houthis” and attempting to link them to terrorist groups.
Prominent among this was what the Wall Street Journal included about linking Yemen to Somalia and other organizations such as Al-Qaeda, through publishing claims related to training fighters, selling weapons, and establishing Yemeni influence centers.
The media campaign also coincides with Saudi Arabia’s attempt to pressure legislatively; the Kingdom pushed American legislators to host elements of Saudi intelligence in Yemen to hold a hearing, through which it tried to raise American fears by marketing claims of Russian-Yemeni-Chinese-Iranian cooperation.
The campaign was adopted by the activist affiliated with Saudi Arabia, Nadwa Al-Dosari, who spoke of claims of Russian officers, and at other times of Chinese support for Sana’a, and also didn’t fail to accuse it of relations with other groups.
Saudi Arabia had preceded all these moves by marketing other propaganda about carrying out an operation in Yemen with the aim of arresting whom it describes as the “spokesman of the ISIS organization,” even though the operation was carried out on its eastern border and in an area already under its intelligence and forces.
These moves reveal a Saudi attempt to raise fears of the American public opinion regarding what America considers terrorist organizations, within an attempt to pressure the Trump administration to support its battle in Yemen.
