Sana a Reveals the Fate of the Prisoner Exchange Deal and the Reasons for Its Delay
Sana’a revealed on Saturday the behind-the-scenes of the postponement of the implementation of the prisoner exchange deal with Saudi Arabia.
This coincides with the failure to conclude it at the scheduled time.
Exclusive – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
The head of the Prisoners’ Committee, Abdulqader Al-Murtada, confirmed in a statement that Sana’a was fully prepared to proceed with the implementation of the deal at its scheduled time and had informed the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) of that, affirming that the postponement was initiated by the coalition parties.
Al-Murtada explained that Sana’a’s committee had fulfilled all its obligations, referring to the ICRC’s visit to the Islah party leader Mohammed Qahtan, attributing the reasons for the other party’s postponement of the deal to its refusal to include the remaining prisoners in its custody according to the agreement.
He also considered what the other side is saying as an attempt to mislead public opinion by glossing over the fundamental points that were agreed upon.
The implementation of the deal, recently signed in the Jordanian capital between Sana’a and Riyadh, was supposed to begin today.
The deal includes thousands of prisoners from both sides, including a Saudi officer and pilots.
