Al Houthi reveals the timing for targeting Saudi ports And affirms We possess the capabilities to protect Bab Al Mandeb
A member of the “Supreme Political Council,” Mohammed Ali Al-Houthi, revealed that Yemen has “no intention” of targeting Saudi ports on the Red Sea “as long as Saudi Arabia adheres to de-escalation and does not become complicit with America and Israel in the escalation against our country,” indicating that any change in this commitment could lead to targeting those ports.
Sana’a – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
Al-Houthi affirmed that Yemen’s position is to “prevent the military use of the Red Sea against any Muslim country,” noting that Yemen possesses “the necessary military capabilities to protect the Bab Al-Mandeb Strait.”
For its part, CNN reported that the “Supreme Political Council” in Sana’a controls most of Yemen’s coasts on the Red Sea, noting that for nearly two years – until May 2025 – the Yemeni forces had been carrying out operations against commercial ships linked to Israel, forcing many major shipping companies with ties to “Israel” to alter their routes.
The network added that the Yemenis have hinted that they might resort to closing the Bab Al-Mandeb Strait if the intensity of the ongoing war escalated, affirming that last week, another Yemeni official in Sana’a told CNN that this option “is on the table and implementable.”
Al-Houthi clarified that Yemen is committed to a ceasefire with the US as long as Washington “commits to stopping its aggression” against them, affirming that Yemen’s decision to launch attacks against Israel was “unilateral and not at the request of Tehran.”
