Iran responds to American threats of moving the 82nd Airborne Division
Tehran – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
The New York Times reported earlier, citing Pentagon officials, that the US is considering deploying a combat brigade from the 82nd Airborne Division to support its potential ground operations in Iran after failing to achieve its objectives through aerial bombardment for more than three weeks.
The American 82nd Airborne Division is one of the most famous and oldest airborne combat units in the world.
In this context, the Iranian response came quickly and sharply, with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard commenting on the American movements by saying, “Do you remember Gerald Ford and Abraham Lincoln?” referring to the aircraft carriers the US sent at the start of the war, which didn’t achieve the desired objectives.
The Revolutionary Guard indicated that the American 82nd Airborne Division will follow the aircraft carriers Gerald R. Ford and Abraham Lincoln, suggesting it will fail in its mission just as the two aircraft carriers failed and withdrew from the battlefield.
