Patients are dying Gaza pleads for an end to the medical blockade

Dozens of patients and wounded individuals participated in a sit-in protest in Khan Younis, southern Gaza Strip, demanding the opening of border crossings and the expedited evacuation of patients and the injured for treatment outside the Strip. This comes amid warnings of a worsening health situation and a rising death toll due to the severe shortage of medical services and the continued closure of crossings to patients.

Video footage from the sit-in showed protesters raising appeals to Arab countries and international organizations to intervene and facilitate the travel of patients and the wounded.

They emphasized that many patients have been awaiting treatment for months due to the limited medical resources within the Strip.

During the sit-in, a heart patient pleaded with the European Union and international organizations to intervene and help patients and find urgent solutions to their suffering before collapsing amidst the participants.

The suffering of patients and the wounded in the Gaza Strip is exacerbated by the continued restrictions on travel for treatment outside the Strip and the deterioration of the health system as a result of the war. The Israeli occupation has turned the movement of people in and out of the Gaza Strip into a “knot” that shackles and deprives Palestinians of aid and treatment.
