The Palestinian Prisoners Club revealed on Wednesday that Israeli occupation authorities have arrested more than 24,600 Palestinians in the West Bank, including Jerusalem, since the start of the genocidal war on the Gaza Strip, emphasizing that the policy of arrests has witnessed an unprecedented escalation during this period.

In a press statement, the club explained that the occupation has transformed arrest into one of the most prominent tools of collective punishment and retribution against Palestinians, targeting various groups and segments of society as part of a broad campaign aimed at undermining Palestinian society and striking at the foundations of its resilience.

It clarified that the announced arrest figures are limited to the West Bank and do not include detainees from the Gaza Strip, whose numbers are estimated in the thousands, given the ongoing difficulties in documentation and monitoring due to enforced disappearances, continuous violations, and the harsh detention conditions they endure. He pointed out that the arrest campaigns have targeted various segments of Palestinian society, with the number of women arrested since the start of the war exceeding 785, while the number of children arrested in the West Bank has surpassed 1,900. This continues a systematic policy of targeting the most vulnerable groups, constituting a violation of international humanitarian law and conventions protecting civilians.

The Palestinian Prisoners Club emphasized that these figures reflect a fundamental shift in the arrest policy, which is no longer limited to being a security measure but has become an integral part of a comprehensive system of repression based on intimidation, subjugation, and collective punishment. This system is accompanied by widespread violations within prisons, interrogation centers, and detention camps, documented by relevant institutions through hundreds of testimonies and statements.
