A new American aircraft shot down in Yemen

The US suffered a new blow in Yemen on Monday, coinciding with fears of its entry into the line of regional confrontations.

Tribal sources in Abyan confirmed the downing of a new aircraft of the type “MQ-9.”
The American aircraft was shot down in the governorate, which is a line of contact between Sana’a forces and Yemeni factions loyal to the coalition.
Activists circulated images of the partially wrecked American aircraft following its crash in the Khabr Al-Maraqisha area.
The circumstances of the aircraft’s downing are not yet known.
Its timing suggests it may be part of operations by the Yemeni forces.
During the operations to support Gaza, which began in 2023 and continued until last year, Yemen shot down more than 20 aircraft of this type.
In recent days, American forces had resumed their espionage activity in the skies over various parts of Yemen, particularly areas under the control of coalition factions in the south of the country, fearing that Sana’a will resume its naval operations as confrontations with Iran intensify.
