The Ministry of Health in Gaza warns of hospital paralysis

The Ministry of Health in Gaza warned of serious repercussions threatening the continued operation of hospitals and primary care centers, following official notifications from approved transportation companies that their services would cease entirely starting Sunday, November 8, 2026.

The Ministry explained that the decision stemmed from the accumulation of unpaid dues, coupled with the decommissioning of a large number of buses due to frequent breakdowns and a severe shortage of spare parts, oil, and tires. This has hindered the transportation of medical staff to and from their workplaces.

The Ministry warned that the continuation of the crisis could prevent doctors, nurses, and technicians from reaching hospitals, threatening to disrupt vital departments, operating rooms, and intensive care units, and jeopardizing emergency and life-saving medical services.

The Ministry held relevant authorities and international and relief organizations responsible for their humanitarian obligations, calling for urgent intervention to settle the outstanding payments to transportation companies and secure the necessary operational and logistical needs. It warned that the collapse of transportation services could cripple the remaining healthcare system in the Gaza Strip, rendering it incapable of functioning.
