The Hebrew newspaper Maariv confirmed that the settlement of Eilat is still in a state of shock just one day after a drone originating from Yemen penetrated Israeli defense systems and directly hit the heart of the city’s tourist center.
Follow-ups – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
The newspaper indicated that the attack, which resulted in more than twenty injuries, occurred in the heart of the main entertainment area, known for its diverse restaurants and its crowding of patrons throughout the week. In an instant, it turned into an arena of chaos as most people present rushed to flee while others flocked, carrying cameras to document the scene.
Maariv added that testimonies from residents and tourists showed a mixture of fear and frustration, while the blow to the tourist center, considered a vital economic and social artery for Eilat, was seen as a harsh blow that raised questions about the city’s future and the sense of security among its residents and visitors.
The newspaper noted that some voices are demanding a firm military response from the army and security agencies, while another sentiment is growing that the city, once described as quiet and safe, is gradually turning into an open arena of confrontation.
Maariv concluded its article by asking, “How will Israel respond? And will serious steps actually be taken to deal with the threat of drones coming from Yemen?”
