On Monday, Israel released eight Palestinian prisoners from the Gaza Strip who had been held in the notorious Sde Teiman prison. They appeared emaciated and thin, and some bore visible signs of injury.

From time to time, Israel releases a number of prisoners it arrested in Gaza during the two years of its genocidal campaign. These prisoners are held in prisons and detention centers that lack even the most basic humanitarian standards, where they are subjected to torture, according to documented testimonies.

The Prisoners’ Media Office (a non-governmental organization) in Gaza stated in a brief statement that the eight released prisoners arrived at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in the central Gaza Strip earlier today, transported by teams from the International Committee of the Red Cross.

Anadolu Agency’s correspondent reported that Red Cross vehicles transported the released prisoners from the Kissufim crossing, east of the central Gaza Strip, to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital.

The correspondent, citing local sources, said that all the prisoners released by Israel today had been held in the notorious Sde Teiman prison.

The released prisoners appeared emaciated and thin, as former detainees had previously reported that Israel deliberately starves them in detention centers and prisons, providing them with meager and poor-quality meals.

One of them bore visible wounds on his face, indicating that prisoners are subjected to severe physical torture, according to previous testimonies from released prisoners and human rights organizations.

On October 13, Israel released approximately 1,700 prisoners from Gaza as part of the ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement with Hamas.
