The Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA),Philippe Lazzarini, confirmed on Monday that the Israeli army continues to silence voices reporting on its atrocities in the Gaza Strip.

This came in response to Israel’s assassination of six journalists by bombing their tent near Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City on Sunday evening, as part of a genocide that has continued for the 22nd month.

With the assassination of the six journalists, the number of media professionals killed by Israel has risen to 238 since the beginning of its genocide in the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023.

Lazzarini expressed his shock, saying, “Israel has been preventing international journalists from covering events independently since the start of the war in Gaza almost two years ago.”

He stressed the need for international media outlets to enter Gaza to support “the heroic work of their Palestinian colleagues, as this is the only way to counter media misinformation about the extent of Israeli atrocities.”

The UN official stated that “the Israeli army continues to silence voices reporting its atrocities in Gaza.”
