International newspapers have criticized the international response to the Israeli-American aid distribution mechanism in the Gaza Strip, which has become a trap for the deaths of hundreds of civilians. Others have called for a transparent international mechanism to address the Iranian nuclear issue so that what happened with Iraq is not repeated.
The Intercept published a recording of a Palestinian named Maher, who said he miraculously escaped being killed at a food distribution center in Gaza.
Maher said he went with a friend to collect food supplies after days of waiting. However, after crowds entered to receive the parcels at the Americans’ behest, heavy gunfire was heard that lasted for about an hour, killing several people, including his friend.
The French website Orient 21 also reported on what it described as the tragedies that it said accompany the food aid distribution process, stating that the goal of involving the so-called “Gaza Humanitarian Foundation” in this process “is to put pressure on the population and push them to flee south toward forced displacement centers.”
The website described what is happening as “a process of displacement through starvation,” adding that the plan “has begun to falter, but this only portends more brutality.”
In this context, the Guardian editorial criticized the international community’s silence on the suffering of the people of Gaza, stating that the Palestinian death toll is rising while pressure on Israel is easing.
The newspaper considered that the continued flow of trade and weapons to Israel “makes its allies complicit in the destruction of life in Gaza,” emphasizing that these allies should instead be key partners in building a future for the Palestinians in a state of their own.
