International newspapers and websites covered the rapidly escalating humanitarian and political developments, foremost among them the catastrophic situation in the Gaza Strip. Warnings were issued about the complete collapse of the healthcare system, with some analysts suggesting that the situation is part of an Israeli strategy to impose unbearable living conditions on the population.
In this context, the website “Orion 21” published a shocking report on the tragic reality in Gaza, describing scenes of bodies lying on the ground after heavy rains due to the destruction of infrastructure, and the authorities’ inability to bury the victims amidst the ongoing bombardment.
The report stated that more than two million Palestinians are living in tents lacking food, medicine, and education, arguing that the destruction of basic necessities constitutes a systematic Israeli policy to force the population to live in intolerable conditions.
For its part, The Economist magazine confirmed that the healthcare system in Gaza has effectively collapsed, and there are no real efforts to rebuild it, considering the health sector a precise reflection of the scale of the humanitarian disaster in the Strip.
The magazine reported that shortages of hospitals, medical equipment, medicines, and fuel have reached critical levels, noting that UN reports indicate six health facilities have been completely destroyed and 11 hospitals and clinics out of 35 are no longer operational.
It added that the few functioning hospitals are only operating partially, while some health facilities are located in areas controlled by Israel, rendering them inaccessible to Palestinians in dire need.
