Gaza Health 513 patients died due to the occupation preventing them from leaving Gaza for treatment

The Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip revealed the deterioration of the humanitarian and medical conditions in the Strip, reaching catastrophic levels as the occupation continues to prevent the entry of emergency medical supplies.

The Ministry of Health in Gaza stated that the remaining operating hospitals in the Strip will not have much time to continue operating in the face of the serious crises they are facing.

He added that hospitals are experiencing overcrowding with wounded and sick patients, exceeding their capacity, especially in the inpatient and intensive care units.

The Ministry indicated that the increasing number of critical injuries exceeds the capacity of emergency, intensive care, and operating rooms, stressing that 45 of the 312 operating rooms are operating with limited capabilities, making it difficult to perform complex and emergency surgical interventions for the wounded.

The Ministry confirmed that the collapse in the levels of medicines and medical supplies has a significant impact on all specialized services, especially for cancer and heart patients, explaining that 47% of the list of essential medicines has zero stock, 65% of medical supplies has zero stock, and only 9 oxygen stations out of 34 are partially operating, supplying hospitals with oxygen. The shortage of diagnostic medical imaging equipment also limits the provision of emergency and life-saving interventions.

The Ministry confirmed that 338 cancer patients died while waiting to travel abroad for treatment, and 11,000 cancer patients were denied treatment opportunities after the destruction of specialized centers, the lack of treatment, and the prevention of travel. Furthermore, 513 patients died because the occupation prevented them from leaving the Gaza Strip for treatment abroad.
