Adnan Abu Hasna, media advisor for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA),warned that the war in the Gaza Strip continues in a different form despite the ceasefire, through the ongoing humanitarian suffering, the spread of disease, and the widespread destruction of infrastructure.

Abu Hasna emphasized that Gaza could revert to square one if this situation persists, especially given the lack of dramatic improvement in conditions as anticipated after the ceasefire.

The UN official believes that the statement issued by some European countries and Japan regarding the deteriorating humanitarian situation reflects the reality on the ground in Gaza.

He noted that everyone expected a dramatic improvement after the ceasefire, but this has not materialized at all. In fact, the situation remains extremely dangerous despite the partial cessation of direct bombardment.

Abu Hasna pointed out that Israel will not only prevent UNRWA from delivering 6,000 truckloads of food and humanitarian aid, but will also add dozens of international non-governmental organizations to the list of those barred.

He explained that these organizations are active in the relief and medical sectors, and that their absence from the scene would exacerbate the situation and make it more dangerous.
