Hamas calls for aid to Gaza as the effects of the storm worsen

The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) stated that the Gaza Strip continues to endure the most horrific forms of genocide, with Palestinians dying from the cold, the collapse of destroyed homes, and the spread of disease due to the tightened Israeli siege.

Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem said in a statement that the continued deaths of children and the elderly from the cold, the collapse of bombed and destroyed homes, and the spread of disease confirm that the Gaza Strip is still experiencing the most horrific forms of genocide as a result of the occupation’s deliberate policy of preventing the entry of aid and basic shelter materials, which transforms dilapidated buildings into a constant threat to the lives of civilians.

He added that it is regrettable that the entire international community remains incapable of providing relief to the residents of Gaza despite repeated appeals, while the Israeli siege imposed on the Strip continues.

He said that more victims are at risk of death in the coming hours and days if urgent aid does not enter and the siege and restrictions imposed by the occupation on relief and shelter are not lifted, especially as the storm intensifies and strong winds uproot the tents of displaced people, leaving thousands of families homeless.

Hamas added that the mediators and guarantor states of the ceasefire agreement are required to uphold their legal and moral responsibilities, continue to pressure the occupation, and compel it to allow the entry of urgent aid without any conditions. They must also move to the second phase of the agreement, which includes reconstruction, intensifying relief efforts, and lifting all restrictions that impede the fulfillment of urgent humanitarian needs.
