Follow-ups — Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
The British newspaper “Financial Times” revealed on Monday the withdrawal of executive officials in the largest global energy companies from participating in the World Petroleum Conference scheduled to be held in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, against the backdrop of security fears following the Yemeni attacks on the capital’s airport.
The Financial Times mentioned in a report of its that the heads of ExxonMobil, TotalEnergies, Shell, and BP decided not to participate, noting that the repeated attacks raised questions about the security of the Kingdom and its repercussions on economic activity and investor confidence.
This coincided with reports about attacks that targeted Saudi oil facilities during the past week, including the second pumping station on the “East-West” pipeline, the Aramco refinery in Rabigh, the Riyadh refinery, the Khurais area, and the Jizan and Jeddah refineries. The report mentioned that these strikes led to the halt of oil exports via the port of Yanbu, while fears are increasing regarding the continuity of oil supplies and the security of vital facilities.
In a related context, the American “Semafor” website pointed to warnings issued by Western governments to their citizens regarding travel to Saudi Arabia, and to the transfer of foreign executive officials to other Gulf countries. The website considered that the attacks on Riyadh increase the difficulty of convincing investors of the Kingdom’s ability to consolidate its position as a global center for finance and trade.
