Despite tempting him with Sudan Bin Salman fails to convince Erdogan to join the Red Sea alliance

Turkey once again refused on Tuesday to join the coalition recently announced by Saudi Arabia in the Red Sea, despite Saudi temptations of influence in Sudan.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan limited himself to wishing the Saudi-led coalition success without officially announcing his country’s joining.
Erdogan was responding to a phone call from Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
Bin Salman has been trying for days to convince leaders of countries allied with his country to engage in the naval coalition, but he has only succeeded in attracting leaders of militias in countries suffering deep conflicts, while major and regionally and internationally influential countries have stayed away.
Although Turkey has concluded several agreements with Saudi Arabia in the defense field, it avoids engaging in a new war in the region, especially after suffering setbacks in Yemen, most notably the downing of its drones during their attempt to breach Yemeni cities.
Turkey fears that further escalation would push it to be included in the ban list, especially after Sana’a hinted at the step in response to countries’ involvement in the Saudi coalition.
Turkey’s hesitation in Yemen comes despite the expansion of the coalition’s scope with Saudi Arabia in Sudan, located on the African side of the Red Sea.
