Damage to Hudaydah Port exceeded 12 billion due to bombardment and siege

The Minister of Transport in the Sana’a government, Mohammed Qahim, revealed that the scale of damage inflicted on the Red Sea Ports Corporation, foremost Hodeidah Port, has exceeded $12 billion. He held the Saudi regime responsible for the destruction of the port’s infrastructure since the beginning of the war on Yemen, affirming that the targeting included containers and docks, causing significant losses whose effects persist.
Qahim said in statements to Al-Masirah TV that Saudi Arabia imposed an inspection and permit mechanism that forced ships to wait for long periods in Djibouti before being allowed to proceed to Hudaydah Port, explaining that these procedures directly reflected on citizens.
He added that war risk fees per container rose to about $12,000, compared to between $2,000 and $3,000 at other ports, leading to increased import costs and higher prices for food and pharmaceutical products.
The transport minister pointed to the continued ban on the entry of a number of materials and equipment for 12 years, including refrigerators, cars, and heavy equipment, noting that Riyadh sends threat messages to ships wishing to sail to Hudaydah Port. He considered that these measures fall within the siege imposed on Yemen and the resulting wide-scale economic losses.
