Gaza s children face imminent death due to an acute shortage of milk and medical care
Gaza – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
The United Nations Population Fund issued an urgent warning about the disastrous health conditions facing children in the Gaza Strip, confirming that hundreds of newborns in the incubators at Nasser Hospital are facing the risk of imminent death due to the lack of basic medical supplies, primarily infant formula, which has completely run out in the besieged Strip.
In the same context, the head of the network of Non-Governmental Organizations in Gaza, in statements to the Al Jazeera channel, warned that the Strip is going through a “dangerous stage” regarding the health of children, especially premature and newborn infants.
He added that serious diseases such as meningitis are spreading alarmingly among children amid the collapse of the health system and the exacerbation of the humanitarian crisis.
The head of the network called on all international parties to put pressure on Israel to open the crossings immediately, demanding the urgent dispatch of specialized medical teams to treat and save the lives of children.
These statements come at a time when the Strip is living under a suffocating siege, which has led to a severe shortage of food, medicine, and medical services, amid warnings from human rights and international organizations that the situation in Gaza amounts to a worsening humanitarian catastrophe primarily targeting children and the most vulnerable groups.
