Saudi Bombing of the Homes of Islah Leaders in Taiz Coinciding with Their Summoning Sparks Controversy

Saudi airstrikes that targeted the homes of leaders of the Islah Party in Taiz, western Yemen, on Monday sparked widespread controversy among the city’s elites.

Activists’ tweets on social media platforms varied regarding their purpose, between those who see them as a Saudi message to pressure the party while summoning its leaders to Riyadh, and others who considered them as reflecting fears of the party’s rapprochement with the Ansar Allah “Houthi” movement in light of Hamas offering mediation between them.
Saudi fighter jets had targeted the homes of leaders of the party in Taiz.
The party leader Abdullah Sultan Shadad reported that one of the Saudi raids on Mafraq Mawiyah market targeted the home of his brother, Sheikh Haroun, who is also counted as belonging to the party.
Shadad published a photo of the targeted home.
The photo was published hours after Shadad’s arrival in Riyadh based on a Saudi directive.
Many platforms interacted with the photo amid attempts to understand its secret at this timing, in which Saudi Arabia faces a new predicament in Taiz with the possibility of losing the city in light of the developments in its western countryside, where the Sana’a forces continued to secure the area linking Aden and Taiz amid accusations against Islah of collusion and withdrawal.
