Araghchi Arrangements for reopening the Strait of Hormuz are in Iran s hands and regional security can t be achieved unilaterally

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi affirmed that the arrangements for reopening the Strait of Hormuz fall within Iran’s responsibility, stressing that Tehran is the party that determines the navigation routes in the strait to ensure the restoration of navigation movement to its pre-war levels, as stipulated in Article 5 of the memorandum of understanding.

Araghchi said in statements to “Iran” newspaper that “Article 5 of the memorandum of understanding is clear and without any ambiguity,” explaining that any modification to maritime passages, whether by adding a new route or canceling another, must be done in consultation with Iran and according to the agreement’s provisions.
He added that the route adopted by Tehran was based on considerations related to security and navigational safety, pointing out that the area was mined.
He accused the United States of directing ships away from the route designated by Iran and pushing them to use other passages within the Strait of Hormuz.
On the regional front, Araghchi said that Iran is conducting ongoing contacts with regional countries to confirm that its measures do not target any neighboring country, adding that there is a growing awareness among the region’s countries that security can only be achieved collectively and cannot be purchased from external powers.
He added that some countries in the region have come to realize that the presence of American military bases on their territory has, in some cases, become a factor threatening their security rather than enhancing it.
He indicated that regional and international communications reflect a readiness for dialogue with Iran, despite mutual criticism between the parties.
In a related context, the commander of Iran’s “Khatam al-Anbiya” Central Headquarters, Major General Ali Abdullahi, announced the adoption of what he described as a “fixed and declared equation” in the confrontation with
