Saudi Arabia tightened its military grip on the eastern Yemeni desert. This comes amidst escalating tension with the UAE.
Exclusive – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
Southern platforms circulated images of military convoys sent by Saudi Arabia to the Yemeni desert stretching from Al-Jawf in the north to Hadhramaut in the east.
The new reinforcements are for what is known as “Nation Shield,” within a broad deployment map across the desert region of the Empty Quarter, which contains a massive oil reserve.
The Saudi deployment came amidst a growing conflict with the UAE in the Hadhramaut oil plateau.
The region witnessed airstrikes two days prior, the first of their kind, amidst the rejection by the Al-Say’ar tribes of the Saudi deployment plan there and their adherence to the principle of enabling tribal militants to secure the Yemeni side of the border.
Although Saudi Arabia uses the conflict with the UAE as a justification to enhance its influence in the region, which it has ruled covertly through its councils and tribal alliances, its decision to deploy its Salafi factions indicates its decision to settle the file of that region, which it has been gradually swallowing and annexing to its territories over the past decades, exploiting the state of intense conflict, whether in the north or the south.
