An American Senator Saudi Arabia Failed to Achieve Its Military Objectives in Yemen

The American Democratic Senator Chris Murphy revealed that Saudi officials informed him that they would achieve rapid progress on the ground in Yemen, and recover the lands they lost within days or weeks, affirming that Saudi Arabia failed to achieve the military objectives it promised and the results came contrary to their expectations.
Exclusive Follow-ups — Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
Murphy said in a press statement that the Saudi officials affirmed to him during his visit that they expect the Yemeni tribes to join their ranks successively and achieve rapid field progress, but they were unable to recover any mentionable amount of the lands they recently lost.
He added that everything that happened was expected, noting that those he described as “Houthis” are still launching multiple attacks, which reflects the failure of the Saudi bets on bringing about a decisive military shift in the course of the war.
The Democratic Senator acknowledged that Washington still provides military and intelligence support to Saudi Arabia, explaining that this support includes refueling and providing wide intelligence information.
He considered that the United States not providing all forms of support requested by the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman does not mean that it is not a party to the war.
Murphy noted that the continuation of the war only leads to increasing the determination of the “Houthis” to fight and the worsening of the humanitarian suffering, in addition to providing a pretext to ignore the serious efforts necessary to reach a political settlement.
The American Senator made clear that any political settlement in Yemen will require, regardless of the positions toward it, granting the “Houthis” a role and a share in governance and involving them in any future Yemeni government, as he put it.
