ABC News reported on Monday that the Saudi “East-West” oil pipeline will remain largely out of service for a period ranging between 3 and 5 weeks, due to damage sustained by it and a main pumping station following last week’s attack.

Corroborating information had confirmed the same to the Associated Press, indicating that damage to the Saudi East-West pipeline keeps it out of service for weeks.
The agency quoted regional officials as saying that “repair work is not limited to parts of the pipeline but also includes a main pumping facility damaged by the attack, increasing the scope of work required to restart the system.”
The pipeline is about 1,200 kilometers long, with a capacity to transport up to 7 million barrels of oil per day, and it is likely to be partially operated during the repair period.

In a related context, ABC News reported that Sana’a forces seized more key islands in the Red Sea, after their control last week of the city of Al-Mokha and Mayyun Island, granting them greater influence over navigation routes in the Red Sea and the Bab Al-Mandeb Strait.
The report noted that the Hunish Islands were under the control of the UAE and its allies, before the Emirati military structure there was dismantled earlier this year.
