America confirms the death of 6 soldiers after a military refueling aircraft was downed in Iraq

US Central Command announced today, Friday, the death of all six crew members who were aboard a US military aircraft that crashed in western Iraq while carrying out a logistical support mission for American forces in the region.

The US military identified the aircraft as a KC-135 Stratotanker, specialized in aerial refueling, stating that it crashed on Thursday evening during an operational mission.
In contrast, Iranian media had quoted the Iranian Revolutionary Guard as announcing that resistance factions in Iraq had managed to down the American aircraft during targeting it.
The incident comes amid escalating military tensions in the region against the backdrop of the ongoing confrontation between the US and Iran and the increase in military operations involving American bases and forces deployed in Iraq and countries of the region.
