Trump acknowledges Iran shooting down an American helicopter in the Strait of Hormuz

US President Donald Trump acknowledged on Tuesday that Iranian forces shot down an American “Apache” helicopter while it was flying over the Strait of Hormuz.

This came hours after Trump announced the aircraft’s crash without clarifying that Iranian air defenses had targeted it last night.
Trump said, in statements, that he had received a briefing from the military command regarding the incident, affirming that the US “will respond to this attack.”
He indicated that the helicopter crew was rescued and didn’t sustain any injuries.
